Meet Our Summer Intern

Who is Kids’ Meals’ Summer Intern?

Hi Hunger Free Family! My name is Rachel LaRocca and I am Kids’ Meals’ current summer intern. This is actually my second summer working for Kids’ Meals because I just absolutely love it here so much. I can’t wait to start updating all of you on what’s happening in the Kids’ Meals Office, but I thought I would let you get to know a little bit about me and what I do with Kid’s Meals first.

I just graduated this May from The University of Texas in Austin, and as soon as I finish this internship I will have my Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Leadership. Fun fact about this, my degree was established last year at the University of Texas so I am one of the first 2 people to ever graduate with this degree. I was born and raised here in Houston so I love being a part of an organization that benefits the community I grew up in. My dream job would be to be working in the communications department of a non profit or even be an executive director of one one day. I am so happy to be gaining the experience and skills I need to be successful in the field I hope to be working in one day.

What exactly do I do here at Kids’ Meals? I do participate in social media posts, and other communications related work, however the main purpose of my job is to organize the silent auction at this year’s Harvest Luncheon. I contact hundreds of companies to inquire about getting items and gift certificates donated to our silent auction. I try to find new and exciting items and one-of-a-kind experiences and make them available for you to bid at our luncheon. I want you to be just as excited for the Harvest Luncheon as we are so I will be updating all of you on all of the new and exciting developments we have for our auction, so stay tuned! – If you have any ideas for possible donations please email me at rachel@kidsmealsinc.org

Thank you Hunger Free Family!
