Inaugural Houston Champions Dinner Honoree: Brielle Burns

Brielle started playing golf when she was 5 years old at a Saturday morning clinic at Hermann Park. She has played continuously since 2013 on the Southern Texas PGA (STPGA) Junior Golf Tour in Little Linksters (Coed 6-9), Junior Tour, and Prestige Tour events. She has also played on the Texas Junior Golf Tour (TGJT), Legend Junior Tour (LJT), and the America Junior Golf Association (AJGA).  Brielle has played in over 210 tournaments, winning 88 events and placing in the Top 5 in 84 events.

 

In November 2023, Brielle was recognized as an AJGA Rolex Scholastic Junior All-American Honoree. The 46 young men and women Rolex Scholastic All-Americans were from 14 states and three countries. Criteria to earn Rolex Scholastic Junior All-America honors include a top-10 finish in an AJGA Open or Invitational event, a minimum test score of 1450 SAT, 33 ACT and a minimum 3.5 weighted GPA on the 4.0 scale or 90/100 scale.

 

Brielle is currently a senior at St. John’s School (SJS) where she is an honor student with High Honors. She has been awarded the 2022 Presidents Volunteer Service Award, Gold level and 2023 Presidents Volunteer Service Award, Bronze level. At the 2023 Texas French Symposium, she placed Prose (1st) and Poetry Recitation (5th), and at the 2022 Texas French Symposium, she placed Interpretive Reading (5th) and Poetry Recitation (7th). She is a Project Leader for Don Greene Nature Park Conservation and the Beacon Homeless Shelter. She is an active member in several clubs on campus: Women Helping to Empower Each Other, Environmental Coalition of Students, and Climate Change Club.

 

Brielle is co-captain of the SJS Varsity Girls Golf Team. She has been a starter since her freshman year, the #1 starter in her junior and senior seasons, and MVP for the 2023 season. The Varsity Girls’ Golf team has been Southwestern Preparatory Conference (SPC) Six-peat Champions since 2017. The team will be going for their 7th straight title this coming April.  Brielle has achieved All-SPC Honors (2023,2022,2021).

  • Most Birdies in Competitive Round: 8 (Westwood Golf Club, June 2023)
  • First Bogey-Free Competitive Round: 70 (-2) (Westwood Golf Club, June 2022)
