HOUSTON – October 17, 2024 – Today, Chevron employees and members of the Houston Texans Legends Community packed 18,000 lunches in celebration of Kids’ Meals, Inc.’s 18th birthday. With music playing, they rolled up their sleeves to pack a healthy, shelf-stable lunch, which includes a protein, fruit, drink, and snack, into Texans-themed, brown paper bags. In addition to the volunteer hours, Chevron supports Kids’ Meals through generous grants and unveiled new “Fueled by Chevron” stickers on Kids’ Meals vans to represent the ongoing support.
“Today, we had over 500 volunteers from across Chevron contribute to this record-breaking event. We are so proud of the way our employees have shown up to give back to Kids’ Meals and help support the work they are doing to address food insecurity,” said Josetta Jones, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at Chevron Corporation. Chevron is excited to host the Kids’ Meals team for a fun day of packing lunches and giving back to the community.
Since 2006, Kids’ Meals has delivered free, healthy meals to the doorsteps of Greater Houston’s hungriest preschool-aged children, totaling 15.3 million meals. The organization relies heavily on individual and corporate donations and volunteers and Chevron has been a longtime partner through its Humankind initiative.
Kids’ Meals CEO, Beth Harp expressed her gratitude for all Chevron has done to support the organization’s mission. “Local and longtime partnerships like the one we have with Chevron are critical to our operations. We’re facing higher need than ever before and seeing their employees come together to support local children means so much to us. Together, we can keep fighting to end childhood hunger in Houston.”
