Covid Safety for Volunteers

Your safety, and the safety of our staff and children is paramount!

Upon your arrival, we ask that you first use the hand sanitizer that can be found in our lobby, and sign in to our volunteer logbook (while keeping yourselves socially distant from the other volunteers!). If you are coming with family, or friends that you are self-isolating with, please let a staff member know, and we will do our best to ensure that you are stationed together.

If you are a Kitchen Helper, starting at about 9:05, we will break everyone into small groups, and take you back to the kitchen to wash your hands and receive a pair of gloves. Unfortunately due to the mask shortage, Kids’ Meals is unable to provide face masks for our volunteers. Face masks must be worn at all times, we encourage you to bring your own.

The health and safety of our volunteers and staff is our number one priority, so we must be strict in ensuring that all volunteers are gloved, and masked for their shift! Thank you in advance for your cooperation! We have hand washing and sanitizing stations set up throughout our facility, and plenty of gloves on site to avoid cross contamination.

If you are a Volunteer Driver, you can meet Catarina Gutierrez, our Operations Manager or Jody Perry, our Operations Coordinator around the back of Kids’ Meals, at loading dock #20. We ask that you remain in your car so we can ensure social distancing protocols are followed in the warehouse! Jody will motion to you once it’s your turn to pick up the route and lunches. We ask for additional patience for this volunteer job, as Jody can only assist one volunteer at a time!

If you are an Afternoon Helper, you can meet Joey Hixson and Beth Harp or Cynthia Stielow and Katherine Greig in the lobby at 12pm to receive your project! These may include helping set up the kitchen for the next volunteer shift, helping sanitize door knobs, answering phones, passing out food to our walk-in families, or receiving incoming donations!

If you have been out of the state, or country, had a fever, or have had any COVID19 symptoms, we ask that you return to volunteer at Kids’ Meals after three weeks of self-isolation!

We are so happy that you have chosen to support Kids’ Meals, and I look forward to greeting you!
